FORTS Temporary Fire Station at FDIC 2026
FORTS brought its Temporary Fire Station to FDIC in Indianapolis in 2026, inviting fire-service professionals to walk through the facility and discuss space for crews during station projects. The exhibit also explored how a connected station can support later assignments after its first project is complete.

A station to walk through
The FORTS team hosted tours and demonstrations for fire chiefs, firefighters, emergency-response leaders and municipal visitors. Seeing the rooms and connections in person gave attendees a way to discuss the relationship between crew accommodation, common areas and supporting facilities.
Current FORTS temporary fire-station solutions use FORTS 38 shelters. The room arrangement, connected layout and selected support pods are developed around the department's shift and site.
A conversation about future assignments
The show focused on the potential to separate and redeploy a multi-unit facility for subsequent work. Possible uses discussed in the original recap included offices, training, coordination and disaster-response support.
Planning for another assignment involves the new layout, equipped load, transport and receiving site. It is part of the ownership discussion for a movable building.
Meeting the fire-service community
