Planning a Fire-Station Move Before Renovation Begins
A station renovation needs a plan for the crew's move as well as the contractor's work. The temporary facility, its services and the department's equipment must come together before the original space is handed over. Beginning with the daily operation helps identify the decisions that belong in that transition.

Define what moves and what stays
Identify the crew's sleeping, shared living and work-space needs. Decide which furnishings, supplies and equipment will move with the department and which are part of the proposed facility package.
Current FORTS temporary fire-station solutions use FORTS 38 shelters. Review the room arrangement, tandem connections and selected bathroom, kitchen or laundry support alongside the shift.
Plan the crew's route through the site
Show the temporary facility in relation to apparatus, parking and other operational areas. Review the routes used by crews, delivery vehicles and contractors.
Locate the required power, water, wastewater and data connections. Assign site work and connections to the responsible project parties.
Agree on the move sequence
Coordinate delivery, deployment, service connections, furnishings and the department's acceptance process. Identify what must be complete before the crew moves and before construction restricts the original building.
Give staff one current plan for access, room assignments, equipment locations and contacts. Use a walkthrough to resolve practical issues before the transition.
Include the end of the renovation
Plan the return move or the facility's next assignment. Folding construction makes FORTS 38 movable; the next deployment still needs its own layout, equipment and receiving-site plan.
Bring the renovation schedule, crew requirements and proposed location to FORTS to develop the temporary facility scope.
