Practicing a Temporary-Facility Deployment Before It Is Needed
A deployment plan is easier to assess when the people responsible walk through it together. A tabletop exercise or site visit can reveal missing decisions before a facility is urgently needed. The aim is to understand how the selected building, receiving site and operating team will come together.

Choose one realistic assignment
Start with a defined use and location. Identify the people who would authorize the move, prepare the site, receive the building and accept the working facility.
Use the proposed layout and equipment scope in the exercise. A single shelter on a matched Mobilizer has a different receiving sequence from a connected multi-unit facility.
Follow the sequence from arrival to use
Discuss delivery access, unloading, placement, opening the structure and connecting services. Then follow the preparation of furnishings, customer-supplied equipment and the operating team's checks.
Use the actual operator instructions and project requirements when planning physical activities. A planning exercise should establish responsibilities and questions before the equipment is moved.
Test the interfaces between teams
Ask each team what it needs from the preceding stage. Record who confirms access, who provides connections and who reports that an area is ready for the next task.
Include the route used by staff, visitors and service vehicles once the facility is occupied. Delivery arrangements should fit the site's ongoing work.
Turn observations into updates
Assign each open item to a person and update the brief when it is resolved. Repeat the relevant part of the review when the location, equipment or layout changes.
Share those requirements with FORTS when developing the shelter configuration and transport plan. The exercise can make the proposal more specific and the handover easier to understand.
